Germany commissioned new solar systems with a combined capacity of 1.36 GW in October, bringing the country's total installed solar capacity to 96.1 GW.
In the first ten months of 2024, Germany added 13.13 GW of solar capacity, with Bavaria leading the way, contributing 3.18 GW, followed by North Rhine-Westphalia (1.80 GW), Baden-Württemberg (1.77 GW), and Lower Saxony (1.27 GW).
In October, Germany connected 362.7 MW of subsidy-free solar systems to the grid, including 343.4 MW of ground-mounted and 19.3 MW of rooftop systems. Subsidized solar installations added another 1,003.8 MW, with 449.9 MW of ground-mounted and 553.9 MW of rooftop systems.
In the onshore wind sector, Germany commissioned 160.7 MW of new onshore wind parks in October, a decline from 202.1 MW in September. The country's total onshore wind capacity now stands at 62.67 GW, with 29,659 wind turbines in operation.
Development approvals for onshore wind projects eased slightly, with 1.75 GW approved in October, down from 2.73 GW in September. In total, 11.87 GW of onshore wind projects were approved in the first ten months of 2024.
