, the UAE-based renewables developer, has signed a joint study agreement with the Ministry of Energy of to develop a 1-GW wind farm in the Mingbulak region.

This agreement, announced at the climate summit in Baku, marks the first phase of a larger plan to construct three wind farms in Uzbekistan.

The Mingbulak project is expected to create 1,000 jobs during the construction phase and an additional 60 positions for ongoing operations. Once operational, the wind farm will provide electricity to approximately 300,000 homes in the region.

This deal follows Masdar's commitment to expanding its presence in Uzbekistan, where it signed an implementation agreement in late 2023 to develop 2 GW of wind capacity.

Masdar already owns the 500-MW Zarafshan wind farm in the country and is committed to helping Uzbekistan achieve its target of 40% renewable energy by 2030.
