Saudi Arabia's ACWA Power Co has officially launched the commercial operation of its 200-MW Riverside solar photovoltaic (PV) project in the Tashkent region of Uzbekistan, the company announced in a recent stock exchange filing.
The Riverside project, which includes a 200-MW solar PV component, has received the Commercial Operation Certificate. Additionally, the facility will feature a 334-MW/550-MWh battery storage system, the construction of which is currently underway.
ACWA Power is developing the project on a Build, Own, Operate, Transfer (BOOT) basis and will manage operations under a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with JSC National Electrical Grid of Uzbekistan.
The company secured financing for the Riverside project earlier this year, further expanding its renewable energy portfolio in Uzbekistan.
ACWA Power has also recently secured funding for its 100-MW Nukus 1 wind project in Uzbekistan, along with financing for two solar parks with a combined capacity of 1 GW, two 334-MW batteries, and 500 km of high-voltage transmission lines in the country.
