Philippine renewable energy developer Citicore Renewable Energy Corporation (CREC) has entered into an agreement to purchase 2 GW of solar photovoltaic (PV) modules from China's Trina Solar Co Ltd.
The modules, which are part of Trina's high-efficiency Vertex N 720W Series, feature advanced n-type i-TOPCon cell technology and will support CREC's ambitious five-year expansion plan.
The solar modules will be deployed across Citicore's upcoming solar projects, aligning with its strategy to build a 5-GW renewable energy portfolio over the next five years.
CREC's president and CEO, Oliver Tan, underscored the significance of the contract, stating, “With our first gigawatt nearing completion, we are now paving the way for our next two gigawatts of solar projects through this newest supply contract with Trinasolar.”
CREC, which is in the process of seeking a stock market listing to secure additional funding, is targeting an annual addition of approximately 1 GW of solar capacity.
This expansion aligns with its commitment to a 35% renewable energy share by 2030 and aims to reach a 50% share by 2040, supporting the country's long-term energy transition goals.
