Group (SRE) has submitted the administrative contract for the 800 MW Formosa 6 wind project to 's Ministry of Economic Affairs' Energy Administration.

The project is part of Taiwan's renewable energy expansion aimed at supporting the island's energy transition and meeting the rising demand for green energy from its export-driven industries.

SRE chairperson Lucas Lin highlighted the significance of the project, noting, “As a leading offshore wind developer in Taiwan, SRE understands the pressing demands for among and other export-oriented industries and fully supports Taiwan's renewable energy targets for 2030.” Lin expressed gratitude for the support received from government and local stakeholders and affirmed SRE's commitment to regulatory compliance and collaborative problem-solving for sustainable development.

Formosa 6, SRE's inaugural project in central Taiwan, is to be situated off the coast of Xianxi Township in Changhua County. Spanning roughly 84 square kilometers, the wind farm site lies approximately 35 kilometers from shore.

The project's 800 MW development capacity was secured in the second auction of Phase 3 Zonal Development for offshore wind held in August.

Once operational, Formosa 6 is anticipated to supply electricity to about 860,000 households, contributing to Taiwan's renewable energy targets and advancing sustainability in the Asia-Pacific region.
