Greece's (formerly ) has officially opened its first North American headquarters in Calgary, , marking a significant step in its expansion strategy following the acquisition of a GW-scale portfolio.

The new office will serve as a hub for engineers, project managers, and business development experts, facilitating Metlen's growth in the Canadian market.

This move comes after the company secured a 1.4-GW DC portfolio of five solar projects in Alberta from Energy Corporation.

The projects, with a total estimated investment of CAD 1.7 billion (USD 1.22 billion/EUR 1.14 billion), are scheduled for completion between 2026 and 2027, with an expected annual generation of 2.1 TWh of renewable energy.

Metlen's Executive Director of M Renewables, Nikos Papapetrou, emphasized that the company's focus on complex energy solutions aligns with North America's growing demand for clean energy.

The opening of the Calgary office is expected to provide “unique opportunities” to further develop solar projects across the Canadian province, as the company aims to drive meaningful change in the energy sector. Currently, Metlen has 11 GW of renewable energy assets globally.
