Investment manager MPC Capital and offshore services provider OS Energy are set to expand into offshore wind support through a new fleet of offshore service vessels (OSVs). The two companies have commissioned Danish Esbjerg Shipyard to construct the first of these vessels, with an option to build five more. Designed for offshore wind farms in the North and Baltic Seas, the fleet will focus on subsea inspections, environmental and seabed surveys, and equipment supply.
The first vessel is slated for delivery in the first half of 2026, marking the start of a €130 million investment for the six-vessel series. MPC Capital and OS Energy are primary investors in the project, with financing for the initial vessel secured from Germany's Ostfriesische Volksbank. The deal also received support from an export credit agency, demonstrating financial backing and confidence in this growing sector.
CEO of MPC Capital, Constantin Baack, highlighted the significant growth potential in offshore services, noting that the need for advanced service vessels is outpacing current supply. This joint venture allows MPC Capital to leverage its maritime and renewable energy experience, meeting rising demand for environmentally compliant OSVs tailored to the offshore wind industry.
