Australian renewable energy developer Squadron Energy has announced plans for a 594-MW wind farm with co-located battery storage near Yass in New South Wales.
In a recent LinkedIn post, the company—backed by billionaire Andrew Forrest—shared a preliminary project layout for community consultation, with the development phase now underway.
Squadron is currently preparing a Scoping Report to be submitted to the New South Wales Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI).
Known as the Bookham wind farm, the project is set 30 km west of Yass in the Southern Tablelands region. The facility will feature 99 wind turbines, expected to generate enough electricity to power approximately 321,000 homes annually.
The plant will also include a battery energy storage system (BESS), although specific details about its capacity have not been disclosed. The project incorporates a community sponsorship program aimed at supporting the local area.
Squadron Energy currently operates 1.1 GW of renewable capacity, with an additional 900 MW under construction. The developer's long-term target is to achieve 14 GW of commissioned renewable energy projects by 2030.
