Sif and Smulders Secure Supply Contract for East Anglia 2 Offshore Wind Project

Netherlands and Smulders have finalized a contract to provide monopiles and transition pieces for the 960 MW East Anglia 2 (EA2) wind farm, being developed by off the UK coast. Under the agreement, Sif will manufacture 64 monopiles, while a joint venture between Sif and Smulders will produce 64 transition pieces.

The monopiles will be produced at Sif's expanded Maasvlakte 2 facility in , while the primary steel for the transition pieces will be manufactured at Sif's Roermond factory in the Netherlands. The outfitting work on the transition pieces will take place at Smulders' facility in Hoboken, Belgium. Once completed, the structures will be loaded onto installation vessels from Sif's Maasvlakte 2 deep-sea quay.

This contract comes on the heels of the EA2 project's recent success in the 's Contracts for Difference Allocation Round 6. Located 33 km off the Suffolk coast, the EA2 wind farm is expected to produce enough power for hundreds of thousands of UK households. Production of the monopiles and transition pieces is scheduled to begin in the latter half of 2026.

ScottishPower Renewables CEO Charlie Jordan welcomed the agreement, noting it as an essential step toward delivering the EA2 project: “It's great to confirm this important contract with Sif and Smulders… and we're really pleased to welcome them to our East Anglia supply chain family.”

Sif CEO Fred van Beers expressed gratitude for the collaborative process, which helped expedite the final contract: “We thank ScottishPower Renewables for the trust and the open exchange of ideas… We look forward to a continued constructive execution phase of this great contract.”

Smulders Managing Director Raf Iemants added, “This partnership underscores our commitment to delivering high-quality, sustainable solutions for the offshore wind market. We look forward to contributing our expertise to ensure the successful completion of this significant project.”
