Purus has entered a multi-year agreement with Vestas for the use of its new Commissioning Service Operation Vessel (CSOV), the Purus Chinook, currently under construction at Vard's shipyard in Norway. The contract will commence upon the vessel's launch in 2025.
Designed to meet stringent industry standards, the Purus Chinook will feature advanced safety protocols, hybrid battery technology to reduce emissions, and systems to lower engine hours, Purus announced.
The vessel, capable of accommodating up to 120 personnel, includes an electric gangway, an 18-meter helideck, a 3D motion-compensated crane with a five-tonne capacity, and a next-generation Chartwell 12 passenger daughter craft.
The Purus Chinook is the first Vard 419 model to join Purus' fleet, followed by her sister vessel, the Purus Coriolis, slated for delivery in 2026.
Both vessels are designed with forward-looking sustainability features, including the potential for dual-fuel methanol-ready propulsion expected to be integrated by 2027 to further decrease emissions.
