Engie North America, a subsidiary of French utility Engie SA, has secured a deal to provide Google LLC with green power from its 350-MW Chillingham solar project located in Texas.
The project is expected to commence operations later this year. Under the agreement, Google will offtake electricity from 90 MW of the project's total capacity, although the duration of the power purchase agreement (PPA) has not been disclosed.
The Chillingham photovoltaic (PV) farm is situated north of Austin in Bell County, Texas, and the electricity generated will support Google's operations in the state.
The PPA was facilitated through LevelTen Energy's Accelerated Process (LEAP), a streamlined approach co-developed by Google and LevelTen Energy to enhance the clean energy procurement process.
This agreement aligns with Google's ambition to operate on 24/7 carbon-free energy across all grids by 2030. To date, Engie and Google have established five renewable energy PPAs globally, showcasing their commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
