Vienna-based renewable energy company Enery has launched a 51.4-MWp solar farm in northwest Romania, marking the addition of its first battery energy storage system (BESS).
The Sarmasag plant will produce 64.8 GWh of clean electricity annually, powering around 38,270 homes and reducing CO2 emissions by 16,208 tonnes. The facility includes a 22 MWh storage capacity, enhancing energy reliability.
The solar farm has a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Asahi Europe & International (AEI) to supply energy to its Ursus Breweries.
The project was constructed by SUNOTEC and Huawei Digital Power, with UniCredit Bank Romania providing financing.
Enery's portfolio currently generates nearly 700 GWh of renewable energy from 490 MW of assets, with over 8 GW of projects in development across 11 countries.
