SJVN Secures 100 MW Wind Power Project in Gujarat

Ltd, a state-owned power company in , has secured a 100 MW grid-connected wind power project in the state of . The project was awarded to SJVN Green Energy Limited, a subsidiary of SJVN, through a competitive bidding process and e-reverse auction organized by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited.

The estimated cost of the project is $108 million and it will be developed through an EPC contract by SGEL, with the flexibility to be set up anywhere in India. The project is projected to generate 281 million units of electricity in its first year and 7,025 million units over its 25-year lifespan, while also reducing carbon emissions by 344,255 tons.

This latest project brings SJVN's wind power portfolio to 297.6 MW, including two operational projects with a combined capacity of 97.6 MW and two more projects under development with 200 MW capacities. The company has set a goal of reaching a 50,000 MW capacity by 2040 and currently has 47,279 MW and 77 projects at various stages of development.

Chairman and Managing Director expressed excitement about the successful bid and emphasized its importance in advancing the company's green energy portfolio and reaching their ambitious target by 2040. This latest project is a significant step forward in India's efforts to transition to renewable energy and reduce carbon emissions.
