The Bureau of Ocean Energy (BOEM) has finalized an environmental review of wind development activities across six lease areas offshore and in the New York Bight region.

This marks the first time BOEM has conducted a regional analysis spanning multiple lease areas.

The six lease areas, auctioned in February 2022 for over USD 4.3 billion, are projected to deliver up to 7 GW of offshore wind capacity.

BOEM's Final Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (Final PEIS) outlines measures to avoid, minimize, mitigate, and monitor potential impacts, which will be conditions for approving future activities in individual construction and operations plans submitted by the leaseholders.

Further project-specific environmental analyses will build on the findings from this PEIS.
