installed new solar power systems with a combined capacity of 959.6 MW in September, marking the second weakest month for solar installations in 2024, following August. The Federal Network Agency reported that the total solar capacity in operation across the country reached 94.3 GW, including these recent additions.

From January to September, Germany connected solar facilities with a total capacity of 11,373 MW to the grid. Bavaria led the way in new installations, contributing 2,713 MW, followed by with 1,604 MW, with 1,558 MW, and Lower Saxony with 1,155 MW.

In September, of the new solar capacity, 117.4 MW was installed without subsidies, comprising 111.7 MW of ground-mounted systems and 5.7 MW of rooftop installations. Meanwhile, subsidized systems accounted for 301 MW of ground-mounted installations and 544.1 MW of rooftop systems.

Additionally, Germany added 199.4 MW of onshore wind capacity in September, up from 188.8 MW in August, raising the country's total onshore wind capacity to 62.52 GW, with the number of operational wind turbines reaching 29,655.

The month also saw a significant increase in authorizations for new onshore wind projects, with development permissions granted for projects totaling 2,688 MW, a substantial rise from August's 892.6 MW. In total, authorities have cleared projects with a combined capacity of 10,048 MW in the first nine months of 2024.
