Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company has awarded Nextchem subsidiary KT Tech the licensing and Process Design Package for a hydrogen production unit as part of the Dung Quat Refinery's upgrade in Vietnam. The unit will have a capacity of 22,676 cubic meters per hour, utilizing KT Tech's proprietary NX Reform hydrogen technology.
Maire, KT Tech's parent company, highlighted that the technology allows for cost-effective hydrogen production while also offering potential carbon footprint reduction through CO2 capture. The process is based on steam methane reforming, ensuring high operational efficiency.
During the construction phase, KT Tech will supply proprietary equipment for the steam methane reforming process. Maire CEO Alessandro Bernini remarked: “We are proud of this important achievement, which confirms our excellent track-record in upgrading existing production plants to enhance efficiency and achieving lower consumptions, thanks to our leading technological know-how and unparalleled process engineering capabilities.”
