Emma Pinchbeck will resign as chief executive of Energy UK next month to take on the role of chief executive at the Climate Change Committee. She has led Energy UK since January 2020, navigating the organization through significant challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic, the gas price crisis, and multiple changes in government leadership.
Throughout her tenure, Pinchbeck has been a strong advocate for the economic and environmental advantages of transitioning to clean energy, emphasizing the investment, growth, and employment opportunities that the industry can create across the UK.
Pinchbeck will officially begin her new role on November 11, 2024. During the interim period, Energy UK's deputy chief executive, Dhara Vyas, will assume the position of interim chief executive until a replacement is appointed.
Reflecting on her time at Energy UK, Pinchbeck expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the organization during such pivotal years in the energy sector. She noted the growing importance of energy in economic policy and stated her hope that her efforts have made the significance of the energy transition clear to government officials. Pinchbeck also acknowledged the support of the team during the difficult period following the loss of Audrey Gallacher OBE, the organization's former deputy chief executive.
David Laws, chair of Energy UK, praised Pinchbeck for her exceptional skills in policy, communication, and team leadership. He expressed sadness at her departure while also congratulating her on the new opportunity at the Climate Change Committee.
