Australian financial services company Macquarie Group is exploring the potential sale of Corio Generation, its offshore wind platform, which has amassed a global pipeline of over 30 GW in projects, according to a Reuters report.
The company has appointed advisors to assist with the possible divestment, and sources familiar with the matter have indicated that the transaction could involve selling all or part of Corio Generation's shares.
Macquarie plans to gauge investor interest later this year as part of the process. Corio Generation was launched in March 2022 through Macquarie's Green Investment Group to manage its offshore wind assets and support expansion in international markets.
The company's portfolio includes projects under development in the Americas, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region, with a total capacity of around 30 GW.
Recently, Corio announced plans to develop 2,400 MW of offshore wind capacity in Brazil's Rio Grande do Sul state. However, the platform currently has no commissioned capacity, with all projects still in the development phase.
