French renewable power producer and developer Akuo has inaugurated a 181-MWp solar farm in Portugal, recognized as one of the largest solar facilities in the country.
The Santas solar farm, located in the Alentejo region, is expected to generate sufficient clean electricity to meet the energy demands of over 100,000 homes.
Founded in 2003, Akuo reported a total power generation capacity of 1.8 GW in operation and under construction, along with a project pipeline exceeding 20 GW as of the end of January, according to its official website.
Earlier this week, the company also signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) to supply wind power to a unit of Swiss renewable energy firm and trader Axpo in Poland. This agreement is linked to a wind farm in the Silesia region, which has been operational since 2021 and boasts a total installed capacity of 66 MW.
