Norwegian offshore wind services provider Havfram has secured a contract from Vattenfall AB and BASF SE for the transportation and installation of wind turbines for the 1.6-GW Nordlicht 1 and 2 offshore wind cluster in the German North Sea.
The project includes 68 Vestas V236-15.0 MW turbines for the 980-MW Nordlicht I, scheduled to start installation in the summer of 2027, and 44 turbines for the 630-MW Nordlicht II, beginning in 2028.
Havfram will use a low-emission wind turbine installation vessel currently under construction for these tasks.
Samira Barakat, acting head of offshore wind at Vattenfall, emphasized the importance of the low-emission vessel in helping the company achieve its net-zero emissions goals. M
eanwhile, Tobias Staeb, director of BASF Renewable Energy GmbH, noted that the Nordlicht wind parks will contribute to BASF's production of low-carbon chemical products.
In addition to this deal, Havfram has signed a contract with Luxcara for the Waterkant offshore wind project.
