A consortium of 22 partners has initiated the LAPERITIVO project, aimed at developing large-area stable perovskite solar modules across Europe, according to Belgium-based sustainable energy research hub EnergyVille.
This EU-funded initiative plans to establish a 200-MW photovoltaic (PV) pilot line, with an ambitious long-term goal of achieving 5 GW of manufacturing capacity in Europe.
LAPERITIVO seeks to facilitate the commercial production of perovskite PV technology, known for its high efficiency and low production costs.
The project aims to achieve efficiencies of 22% for opaque modules and 20% for semi-transparent modules. Additionally, it will explore the application of semi-transparent modules for agrivoltaic purposes, which integrate solar energy production with agricultural activities.
The consortium includes eight European research institutes and universities, one African research center, seven small and medium-sized enterprises, and six large companies, with Belgian research group Imec serving as the project coordinator.
