Enercon's CEO, Udo Bauer, has raised concerns over increasing competition from non-European manufacturers in the wind energy market, urging for fairer regulations. Bauer emphasized the need for a level playing field to ensure equal opportunities for all market participants in Germany and Europe.
During a visit by German Federal Minister of Economics and Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck to Enercon's Mechatronic Centre of Excellence in Aurich, Bauer highlighted the challenges posed by international market participants. He stressed that price dumping practices distort competition, making it difficult for European firms to compete on fair terms.
“We need a level playing field that ensures equal opportunities for all market participants, ensures fair competition in Germany and Europe and penalises price dumping that distorts competition,” said Bauer.
Enercon's Mechatronic Centre, which manufactures nacelles for various turbine models, including the E-175 EP5 with a rotor diameter of 175 meters, plays a significant role in the energy transition. With over 1,000 employees, the site has produced 1,700 nacelles over the past three years.
While reaffirming Enercon's commitment to supporting the energy transition, Bauer called on the federal government to provide long-term planning security and industrial policy frameworks that ensure fair competition. He emphasized that such measures are critical for continued investment and growth in the wind industry within Germany and Europe.
