Eni Plenitude SpA has entered into a significant corporate power purchase agreement (PPA) with Ferriera Valsabbia, an Italian steel rebar producer, to supply wind-generated electricity from a 15-MW wind farm located in Sannicandro di Bari, in the Apulia region of southern Italy. The agreement links the electricity supply directly to the new wind project.
Under the terms of the PPA, Ferriera Valsabbia will acquire the entire output from the Plenitude-owned wind farm for a duration of ten years, starting in September 2024. The wind farm is expected to generate more than 350 GWh of electricity over the course of the agreement.
Ferriera Valsabbia specializes in manufacturing rebar from scrap iron using an electric arc furnace, and the PPA will facilitate a substantial increase in the company's use of renewable energy. This move aligns with its goal to enhance sustainability and further reduce its environmental footprint.
For Eni Plenitude, the agreement is part of a broader strategy to expand its renewable energy capabilities. The company aims to achieve over 8 GW of installed renewable energy capacity by 2027, with a target of exceeding 15 GW by 2030. This PPA is a strategic step towards meeting those targets and underscores Plenitude's commitment to advancing the transition to renewable energy.
