Ethical Power has been awarded a contract by Varco Energy for the Balance of Plant (BoP) activities associated with a 47.5-MW battery energy storage system (BESS) in Cornwall, southwest England.
Under the agreement, Ethical Power's high-voltage grid connections unit will oversee the installation of BESS equipment and manage the associated electrical, mechanical, and civil infrastructure required for grid connection. This was confirmed in a recent statement by the company.
The Sambar Power BESS project, which is being developed by UK independent energy infrastructure developer Carlton Power Limited, was acquired by Varco in April. Ethical Power and Varco Energy have previously collaborated on several energy storage initiatives in the UK, including the 57-MW/138-MWh Native River project and the 57-MW/138-MWh Sizing John site.
