Lightsource BP’s Kotuń Solar Project Achieves Commercial Operation

has announced that its 40MW Kotuń project in has reached commercial operation, marking a significant milestone for the company in the region. This project is part of a long-term (PPA) with , established in September last year, to supply renewable energy.

“This drives further decarbonisation of the Polish grid and supports Microsoft's goal of achieving 100% renewable energy supply by 2025,” said Lightsource BP in a statement.

Since its establishment in Poland in late 2020, Lightsource BP has been actively developing a 3.2GW project pipeline, solidifying its presence in the country. The company now boasts a team of over 30 professionals dedicated to expanding its renewable energy footprint.

Michał Głowacki, Country Head for Lightsource BP in Poland, emphasized the importance of solar energy in the nation's energy strategy: “Solar energy has a huge role to play in Poland's energy transition and the solar projects we are developing are part of this historic transformation. The Kotuń solar farm reaching commercial operation is our first significant contribution to the country's decarbonisation targets.”

This development highlights Lightsource BP's commitment to supporting Poland's renewable energy goals and Microsoft's sustainability objectives, reinforcing the strategic importance of the Kotuń project in the broader context of energy transition.
