Renexia, the renewable energy division of Italy's Toto construction group, is in discussions with Mingyang regarding its proposed Med Wind project in the Mediterranean Sea. The project aims to establish Italy as a leading player in offshore wind within Europe, leveraging Mingyang's turbine technology to enhance efficiency and capacity.
In a statement posted on LinkedIn, Renexia highlighted the potential impact of Med Wind, stating, “With an expected production of 9TWh per year, Med Wind will position Italy as a European leader in the sector also thanks to Mingyang's innovations in turbine design, which will significantly raise the efficiency and capacity of the project.”
Renexia recently undertook a trade mission to China, accompanied by Minister for business and trade Adolfo Urso, underscoring their commitment to advancing renewable energy partnerships.
Seas Geosciences, Renexia's partner, has completed seabed survey activities for Med Wind using advanced geotechnical coring equipment, achieving substantial penetration depths exceeding 40 meters below the seabed. The surveys encompassed water depths ranging from 600 meters to 1200 meters, demonstrating the project's comprehensive preparatory measures.
Renexia's ongoing ventures include the Beleolico offshore wind farm, featuring MingYang MySE 3.0-135 turbines, operational since 2022 in the Mediterranean Sea off Taranto.
