Prokon, a German renewables cooperative, has recently launched a 41.3 MW wind park in western and secured authorization for a significant repowering project in northern Germany.

The Finnish facility, situated in Bjorkliden village, features seven wind turbines supplied by German manufacturer Nordex. Under a 10-year (PPA) signed with digital infrastructure company in January 2022, approximately 85% of the park's output will be utilized.

Prokon holds a 19.9% stake in the wind farm, with the remainder owned by French renewable power producer . Construction of the facility, initiated in July 2022, underscores Prokon's commitment to expanding its international renewable energy footprint.

In addition to its Finnish venture, Prokon has obtained approval to replace nine existing turbines with four more powerful Nordex-N163 models in Quarnstedt, northern Germany. The new turbines, with a combined capacity of 28 MW, will more than double the site's previous output to approximately 52.2 million kWh annually. Dismantling of the old turbines is scheduled for the first half of 2026, with construction of the new ones slated to begin in the second half of the year. The repowered wind farm is expected to be grid-connected by the end of 2027.

Prokon's extensive portfolio includes 72 wind farms across Germany, Finland, and Poland, encompassing 410 turbines with a total installed capacity of 872.3 MW. These facilities collectively generate 1 billion kWh of green electricity annually, contributing significantly to regional and international renewable energy goals.
