Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV), a player in renewable energy development, has inaugurated its maiden hybrid solar-plus-storage park in Queensland, Australia, marking a significant milestone for the company's operations Down Under.
Located approximately 200 km north of Brisbane, the Dalby site represents one of Australia's pioneering ventures integrating photovoltaic (PV) arrays with battery energy storage systems (BESS).
“This project underscores FRV's commitment to advancing renewable energy solutions in Australia,” stated a spokesperson from FRV. “The Dalby hybrid facility, comprising 2.45 MW of solar arrays and a 2.5 MWp/5 MWh battery, is poised to make a substantial impact by supplying electricity equivalent to the annual consumption of over 1,680 homes.”
Designed by Spanish solar platform Gransolar, the project operated as the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor, highlighting FRV's strategic partnerships to drive innovation and efficiency in renewable energy infrastructure.
FRV Australia, a joint venture between Abdul Latif Jameel Energy from Saudi Arabia and Canadian pension fund OMERS Infrastructure, has outlined ambitious plans for further hybrid projects across Australia.
Notably, the company's battery storage initiatives in Victoria, including the 100 MW Terang and 250 MW Gnarwarre projects, have progressed to the ready-to-build stage and are slated for construction in the latter half of 2024.
