RWE has selected DeepOcean to manage the transport and installation of array cables for the offshore wind project in , following the final investment decision for its expansive Nordseecluster venture. The project encompasses multiple offshore wind farms with a combined capacity of 1.6GW, set to be located approximately 50km north of Juist Island in the German North Sea.

Under the awarded contract, DeepOcean will undertake comprehensive tasks including preparatory work, transportation, and installation of 185km of 66kV and copper cables. These cables will interconnect 44 offshore wind turbines, facilitating the operational capacity of Nordseecluster A, which is slated to reach 660MW upon completion by early 2027.

“The firm order encompasses crucial activities such as trenching, topside pull-ins, and terminations for the initial build-out phase,” RWE noted in a statement. The project hub will be based in , with operational support spanning DeepOcean's offices in the UK and Norway.

Nordseecluster A marks the first phase of RWE's ambitious offshore wind expansion, with Nordseecluster B expected to add an additional 900MW of capacity by early 2029. DeepOcean anticipates commencing offshore preparations and pre-installation surveys in Q2 2025, followed by main works commencing in early 2026, employing three specialized vessels for the project.
