Heygaz Biomethane Acquires Irish Producer Ormonde Organics to Expand European Portfolio

, a platform created by Capital Partners, has announced its of Irish biogas and biomethane producer , marking a strategic move to consolidate its European portfolio in high-growth markets.

According to Heygaz, the acquisition of Ormonde Organics aligns with its strategy to expand biomethane production across Europe. Ormonde Organics operates two anaerobic digestion plants in Portlaw, County Waterford, and Youghal, County Cork, with a combined annual production capacity of 60 gigawatt hours (GWh). The company has also secured approval to build a third plant, expected to commence operations by the end of 2025.

Ormonde Organics specializes in converting biogas into biomethane, which is utilized for renewable electricity generation and sold as bio-compressed (CNG). The company is collaborating with Gas Network Ireland (GNI) to inject biomethane into Ireland's national gas grid, enabling broader market distribution within the EU gas market.

Fernando Sarasola, president of Heygaz, expressed enthusiasm about integrating Ormonde Organics into their platform, stating, “Ormonde Organics has built state-of-the-art assets that operate at the highest industry standards. The management team has created a strategic position in a very promising market. We are excited to be able to integrate this company into our platform and start a new phase with them.”

Heygaz plans to leverage Ormonde Organics' expertise to enhance their presence in Ireland and pursue further growth opportunities in the biomethane sector. Martin Morrissey, CEO of Ormonde Organics, highlighted the potential for the company to contribute significantly to Ireland's green economy under Heygaz's ownership.

Nicolas Ritter, investment director at InfraVia, commented on the strategic expansion of Heygaz, noting, “Since its inception less than a year ago, Heygaz has entered five new countries with high growth potential. We plan to continue to grow in this area and add more strategic countries.”
