RWE and Masdar have formally submitted a Development Consent Order (DCO) application to the UK Planning Inspectorate for the 3GW Dogger Bank South wind farm, situated off the eastern coast of England.
The application is now under review by examiners, who have 28 days to assess its acceptance for further examination.
The project, developed in two phases named DBS East and DBS West, will each accommodate up to 100 turbines. RWE, alongside UAE-based Masdar, is spearheading the project's development, construction, and operational phases.
Following the current milestone, the focus will shift towards securing a Contracts for Difference deal, with subsequent phases including financing, construction, and planned commissioning by 2031.
The wind farm is set to connect to the grid through the proposed National Grid substation at Creyke Beck 1, located near Cottingham, north of Hull.
