Brazil’s Piaui State Inks Deal for Massive 4-GW Solar Power Project

Governor Rafael Fonteles of has formalized a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with solar company to spearhead the development of a colossal 4-GW solar power generation initiative.

This landmark project, hailed as the largest of its kind in , is poised to revolutionize the energy landscape of the region, announced the state government this week.

The forthcoming solar plant is strategically aimed at powering the production industry in Parnaiba city, heralding a significant leap forward in sustainable energy practices. Nestled in the municipality of Bom Principio do Piaui, the solar facility is slated to commence construction activities in 2025, promising a substantial boost to the local economy and sector.

Solatio Energia has garnered environmental clearance to embark on the production of 11.4 GW of green hydrogen and ammonia in Piaui, with a primary focus on catering to the European market.

Across Brazil, the company is demonstrating its commitment to solar energy with a hefty investment totaling BRL 25 billion (USD 4.7bn/EUR 4.3bn), underscoring its dedication to advancing renewable energy initiatives nationwide.
