British renewable energy developer Hive Energy has received authorization to connect four solar parks to Serbia's grid, contributing a combined power generation capacity of 216.5 MW.
The UK-based company anticipates advancing urban planning procedures in the upcoming months.
These photovoltaic (PV) projects are equipped with integrated battery energy storage systems, constituting 10% of the total PV capacity. The Pirot and Prokuplje schemes, with capacities of 50 MW and 40 MW respectively, are currently undergoing urbanization planning and are projected to become shovel-ready between the last quarter of 2024 and the first quarter of 2025. Subsequently, Veliko Gradiste I and II, boasting capacities of 71.5 MW and 55 MW respectively, are expected to attain ready-to-build status a few months later.
These four projects are part of a 490-MW Serbian portfolio for which Hive Energy secured land last year. The company disclosed its intention to finalize more grid-connection contracts this month, with additional applications being prepared for seven schemes totaling 500 MW.
Hive Energy established an office in Belgrade in May 2022, aiming to serve as a regional hub for Serbia, Bosnia, and Montenegro. As of early 2023, it reported having 2.2 GW of Serbian solar projects under development.
