Renewables developer Elgin has initiated construction on three solar projects in Ireland, representing a significant stride towards advancing renewable energy infrastructure in the country.
The projects, situated in Oldcastle, County Meath, Edgeworthstown, County Longford, and Kilmacthomas, County Waterford, collectively amount to 21MW of solar capacity and form part of Elgin's broader strategy to develop 16 sites in 2024.
Emmet Clarke, Head of Engineering, Procurement and Construction at Elgin, emphasized the collaborative effort behind the milestone:
“This portfolio of solar farms reaching construction is a major achievement for Elgin. It showcases the effective collaboration between Elgin and our partners at AFRY, Enerpower powered by Greenvolt, and TLI Group, and with our landowners. We are excited to see these projects come to life and set the stage for future developments.”
The commencement of construction underscores Elgin's commitment to driving sustainable energy solutions in Ireland and underscores the company's dedication to fostering partnerships with key stakeholders, including landowners and industry collaborators.
As the projects progress towards completion, they are poised to contribute significantly to Ireland's renewable energy capacity, aligning with national objectives to reduce carbon emissions and enhance energy sustainability.
