is set to purchase the 208MW Tonstad Vindpark, located in the Norwegian municipalities of Sirdal and Flekkefjord, from a fund managed by the Swiss investment firm . This acquisition significantly enhances Hafslund's existing wind power assets, according to the company.

As Norway's second-largest power producer, Hafslund Kraft operates 80 plants and two wind power plants. The company is owned by Hafslund and Energi, which are, in turn, entirely owned by municipalities and the Innlandet and Oslo county councils.

Tonstad Vindpark, one of Norway's largest onshore wind farms, boasts an installed capacity of 208MW and an annual output of approximately 670GWh, sufficient to power nearly 100,000 homes. The acquisition strengthens Hafslund's wind power portfolio, which currently includes a 20% stake in the Raskiftet and Kjølberget wind farms.

Hafslund also noted that the acquisition diversifies its power production within the NO2 price range. , managing director at Hafslund Kraft, commented, “Tonstad Vindpark is a good and profitable wind power plant that also ensures Norwegian industrial workplaces with electricity at predictable prices. With ownership in over 80 power plants, we know what it means to be a visible and responsible actor in our local communities. We are proud to have good relations with all our host municipalities and look forward to getting to know Sirdal and Flekkefjord better.”

The power generated from Tonstad Vindpark is sold to Hydro Energi through a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) spanning 25 years. Following the acquisition, Hafslund Kraft plans to rename the company from Tonstad Vindpark AS to Tonstad Vindkraftverk AS.

The completion of the transaction is subject to approval by the Norwegian Competition Authority and the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE).
