China’s installed renewable energy capacity experienced significant growth in the first quarter as part of the country’s efforts to transition towards green energy, according to the National Energy Administration (NEA).

During the first quarter, China saw a substantial 86.5 percent year-on-year increase in newly installed renewable energy capacity, reaching 47.4 million kilowatts. This accounted for 80.3 percent of the country’s newly installed power generation capacity.

By the end of March, the installed capacity of renewable energy in China had reached approximately 1.26 billion kilowatts, as reported by the NEA. Additionally, China’s renewable energy generation in the first quarter witnessed an 11.4 percent year-on-year rise, amounting to 594.7 billion kWh. Notably, wind and photovoltaic power generation increased by 27.8 percent year-on-year.

These developments reflect China’s ongoing commitment to embracing renewable energy sources and aligning with global sustainability efforts. The growth in both installed capacity and generation highlights China’s progress towards a cleaner and more environmentally friendly future.
