Danish offshore wind installation company Cadeler A/S announced on Sunday its acquisition of vessel reservation agreements for the Baltyk II and Baltyk III offshore wind farms in Poland. These projects, jointly developed by Polish power utility Polenergia SA and Norway's Equinor ASA, are set to be constructed in the Baltic Sea, approximately 27 km and 40 km from the port of Leba, respectively.
The Baltyk II and Baltyk III ventures are slated to feature 100 offshore wind turbines with a combined capacity of 1,440 MW, with turbine installation scheduled to commence in 2027. Cadeler disclosed plans to utilize both an O-Class and a P-Class vessel for the project, aiming to optimize efficiency and productivity during the installation process. The contracts stemming from these vessel reservation agreements are estimated to range between EUR 110 million (USD 119m) and EUR 130 million.
Cadeler CEO Mikkel Gleerup underscored the promising business prospects offered by the Polish market, emphasizing the significance of securing this contract with Equinor and Polenergia. “This also marks our first contract with Equinor and Polenergia, setting the stage for new successful future partnerships,” Gleerup commented.
In February, Polenergia and Equinor finalized an agreement with Siemens Gamesa for the supply of turbines for the Baltyk II and Baltyk III projects, signaling further progress towards the realization of these ambitious offshore wind developments.
