Haventus, a -based firm, has finalized a GBP 100 million loan to propel its initiative to convert a former oil and gas fabrication site in into a dedicated port facility for offshore wind deployment in the North Sea.

The company has reached a final investment decision (FID), and construction activities have commenced at the , situated outside the city of Inverness in the Scottish Highlands.

The joint credit facility, totaling GBP 100 million, has been secured from the UK Bank (UKIB) and the Scottish National Investment Bank, with each party investing GBP 50 million. This collaborative effort was announced jointly on Monday.

Haventus initiated the redevelopment of the Ardersier Port, formerly known as the fabrication site, last year following an initial investment commitment of GBP 300 million from US investment firm Quantum.

The Ardersier Port is set to provide a 450-acre site with quayside access and appropriate infrastructure to support large-scale deployment of both fixed and floating offshore wind technologies. It will facilitate the marshalling, integration, manufacturing, and assembly of offshore wind components, as well as the decommissioning of aging oil and gas infrastructure in the North Sea. The project encompasses the construction of a new 650-meter (2,132 ft) quay wall and associated quayside, among other initiatives.

Upon achieving full operational status, anticipated in 2025, the Ardersier Port is poised to become the largest dedicated offshore wind deployment port facility in Scotland. It will play a pivotal role in supporting the development of Scotland's ScotWind and INTOG project pipeline.
