Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), a leading Danish fund manager, has recently announced its partnership with the Global Offshore Wind Alliance (GOWA), an international coalition committed to accelerating the deployment of offshore wind power across the globe.
Through its membership in GOWA, CIP aims to remove barriers to deployment in new and existing markets, while also working towards ramping up offshore wind deployment worldwide. The company will contribute its expertise in renewable energy to aid GOWA in its mission to transform economies through offshore wind power.

In a statement, CIP Senior Partner, Torsten Lodberg Smed, emphasized the importance of offshore wind power as a source of reliable and affordable renewable energy, saying, “Offshore wind is a reliable source of clean, green, and affordable renewable energy – and it has a vital role to play in the ongoing global transition to green energy.”
Smed also highlighted the increasing interest of governments and private sectors in offshore wind power as a result of rapid technological progress. “Across most economies and markets, governments and private sectors are already discussing how to deliver the enormous potential of offshore wind made possible by rapid technological progress,” he said.
CIP's partnership with GOWA is an important step towards achieving the coalition's ambitious goals. GOWA was founded by the Government of Denmark, the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), and the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), with the aim of supporting the deployment of a minimum 380GW total offshore wind capacity worldwide by 2030 and increasing installed capacity by at least 70GW annually thereafter.

As a member of GOWA, CIP will contribute to the coalition's efforts to drive the global transition to renewable energy and support the deployment of offshore wind power on a large scale. Smed concluded by saying, “We believe that we have the expertise required to make a positive contribution to this conversation and are proud to join GOWA and share our knowledge and experiences.”
