In a groundbreaking venture spearheaded by Tokyu Land Corporation and SolarDuck, with collaborative efforts from Kyocera Communication Systems Corporation, has achieved a significant milestone with the installation of its inaugural project. Situated amidst the picturesque backdrop of the Tokyo Bay area, this innovative endeavor marks a pivotal moment in Japan's landscape.

The demonstration project, backed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, signifies a bold stride towards sustainable energy solutions. SolarDuck, in partnership with Everblue Technologies, emerged triumphant in November 2022 in the realm of “cutting-edge renewable energy,” setting the stage for this ambitious demonstration.

Throughout the year 2024, the collaborative endeavor aims to showcase the efficacy of power generation utilizing floating power facilities, coupled with groundbreaking advancements in electricity storage technology. This includes the storage of generated electricity in ground-based batteries, as well as the pioneering transportation of these storage units.

A spokesperson for the project conveyed, “We are excited to demonstrate the potential of floating solar power generation in the dynamic environment of Tokyo Bay. This initiative not only underscores our commitment to sustainable energy solutions but also highlights the innovative spirit driving Japan's renewable energy sector.”

The renewable energy harnessed from this endeavor will serve a dual purpose. Firstly, it will power the electric mobility vehicles of Open Street Corporation, symbolizing a tangible step towards eco-friendly transportation solutions. Secondly, it will facilitate the operation of an electric boat, showcasing the versatility and adaptability of renewable energy sources in maritime settings.

Looking ahead, the project envisions broader applications of renewable energy in the Takeshiba area of the Tokyo Bay region. Plans are underway to explore the integration of renewable energy sources into future events, further amplifying the impact of this pioneering initiative.

As Japan continues its transition towards a more sustainable future, endeavors such as the floating solar project stand as shining examples of innovation and collaboration in the pursuit of environmental stewardship.
