French energy company Engie revealed its intention to invest up to 4 billion euros ($4.3 billion) in Belgium by 2030, prioritizing renewable power generation, particularly wind power, according to an announcement made on Thursday.
With a significant presence in Belgium, including operation of the nation's nuclear plants and serving close to 3 million customers, Engie outlined plans to focus on wind power, aiming to install capacities totaling 2 gigawatts. This commitment will be evenly split between onshore and offshore projects.
In addition to its renewable energy endeavors, Engie disclosed its investment in a new gas power plant in Flemalle, slated to commence operations next year. The company also expressed intentions to expand its power storage infrastructure to enhance flexibility in its operations.
