Kuwait's Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, Mutlaq Burguba, has underlined the significance of accelerating national plans to produce a minimum of 15 percent of the electrical grid's consumption from renewable energy sources by 2023.
During a meeting with renewable energy specialists, the minister discussed a range of relevant topics, including current and future governmental projects, their implementation, and the importance of monitoring progress.
The meeting's primary focus was on achieving energy conservation and ensuring that at least 10 percent of the ministry's building's consumption of electric energy comes from renewable sources. The ministry revealed that they discussed the establishment of an organizational unit within the ministry to handle tasks and projects related to renewable energy.
Several high-ranking officials attended the meeting, including Acting Undersecretary Maha Al-Asousi, Assistant Undersecretary for Technical Services and Main Concerns Sector Ahmed Al-Rashidi, Assistant Undersecretary for Electric Power Stations and Water Distillation Sector Haitham Al-Ali, and Assistant Undersecretary for Distribution Networks Engineer Saad Al-Rashidi.
The minister's commitment to renewable energy underscores Kuwait's growing interest in sustainable energy solutions. As a country with abundant solar and wind resources, renewable energy is an excellent opportunity for Kuwait to diversify its energy mix, reduce its reliance on fossil fuels, and achieve its environmental goals.
