, a global leader in gases, technologies, and services for industry and health, is set to bolster its presence in the United States' (RNG) production market with the construction of two new production units.

Located in Center Township, Pennsylvania, and Holland Township, , these state-of-the-art facilities will harness waste from dairy farms to produce biogas through anaerobic digestion, promoting circular economy principles in waste management.

According to Air Liquide, the facilities will have a combined production capacity of 74 gigawatt hours (GWh) and will return the digested waste to the farms, exemplifying a sustainable approach to waste utilization.

Utilizing Air Liquide's proprietary gas separation membrane technology, the biogas will undergo purification into RNG before being injected into the grid, contributing to the decarbonization of the energy sector.

Armelle Levieux, member of Air Liquide's executive committee and vice president of innovation, underscored the company's commitment to sustainable growth, stating, “With these two new biomethane production units, Air Liquide is reinforcing its presence in the US RNG production market.”

Levieux further emphasized the alignment of these investments with the company's strategic plan ADVANCE for 2025, which prioritizes growth intertwined with sustainability objectives.

“Biomethane is part of the portfolio of solutions developed by Air Liquide to support the decarbonization of its customers in the industry and transport sectors,” added Levieux, highlighting the pivotal role of biomethane in driving decarbonization efforts across various industries.

Air Liquide currently operates 26 biomethane production units globally, with a total annual production capacity of approximately 1.8 terawatt hours (TWh), reflecting the company's steadfast commitment to advancing renewable energy solutions on a global scale.
