Statkraft and Alterric Forge Green Energy Alliance through Long-Term Power Purchase Agreements

and Alterric, 's leading onshore producer, have sealed a series of long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) spanning two to five years.

Under the terms of the agreements, Statkraft will procure approximately 1.2 terawatt-hours (TWh) or 330 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of green annually from eleven wind farms boasting an installed capacity of nearly 150 megawatts (MW) throughout the duration of the contracts.

These wind farms, situated in Brandenburg, Hesse, Lower Saxony, and , have been operational for periods ranging from two to eight years. Alterric, the driving force behind the projects' development and construction, will continue to oversee their operation.

The long-term procurement of green electricity guarantees the economic viability of the wind turbines without resorting to market premiums, while simultaneously facilitating the market utilization of guarantees of origin from Germany, according to Alterric.

Patrick Koch, Head of Statkraft's origination business in Germany, expressed satisfaction with the partnership, stating, “We are pleased to have found a strong partner in Alterric who we can give long-term planning security by purchasing electricity at fixed prices.”

Koch emphasized the versatility of utilizing wind power from Alterric's portfolio, enabling Statkraft to tailor green power solutions for industrial clients across various sectors such as transportation, automotive, optics, optoelectronics, glass production, and building materials, aligning with their specific needs and climate objectives.

Malte Neuendorff, Head of Marketing and Market Development at Alterric, highlighted the partnership's contribution to Germany's transition to a climate-neutral industrial hub, affirming, “By working with Statkraft, we can provide companies with green electricity from Germany and thus make an important contribution to making Germany a climate-neutral industrial location.”

Neuendorff underscored the significance of the alliance in advancing the energy transition, stating, “With this partnership, we are taking another important step towards the energy transition.”
