Energy solutions provider Espana, a subsidiary of the utility group Engie SA, has unveiled plans to develop a 12.62-MWp self-consumption plant for US chemicals giant within its complex in the Spanish region of Asturias.

The project, announced on Thursday, is bolstered by a (PPA) that will enable DuPont to procure electricity directly from the on-site solar farm, according to Engie Espana.

Under the terms of the agreement, Engie will spearhead the design, investment, construction, operation, and maintenance of the ground-mounted arrays. The solar plant will incorporate more than 22,000 solar panels outfitted with DuPont's Tedlar PVF film, ensuring optimal performance and durability.

Described as the largest solar self-consumption facility in Asturias, the project is slated to become operational in the first quarter of 2025. Once operational, the solar plant will enable DuPont to cover approximately 25% of its electricity consumption at the Asturias complex, significantly reducing its reliance on traditional grid-based power sources.
