has announced the appointment of as the new head of its gas & energy arm, as part of a shake-up. Lin, who previously led regions, corporates & solutions, will succeed Anja-Isabel Dotzenrath, who is retiring from BP and her executive career.

The move comes as BP revealed plans to simplify its organisational structure to support the priorities outlined in February 2024 aimed at growing the company's value. The restructuring will see the integration of the current regions, corporates & solutions organisation into the businesses and functions, with BP continuing to operate three core businesses – production & operations, gas & low carbon energy, and customers & products – enabled by trading & shipping.

BP's executive leadership team will be reduced in size to 10 members, with its financial reporting structure remaining unchanged. Emeka Emembolu will take over as head of the company's technology function, succeeding Leigh-Ann Russell, who is leaving for an external opportunity.

BP's chief executive Murray Auchincloss expressed confidence in the new appointments, stating, “William brings extensive experience, expertise, and leadership to gas & low carbon energy – a key part of our portfolio. He has a proven track record of delivery, managing complex relationships and deals – effectively leading teams to build resilient businesses.”

Emembolu, who has been chief of staff for the past two years, has held senior technical roles across BP's business during his 25-year career, focusing on safety, value growth, people, and technology.

Auchincloss also expressed gratitude to Anja and Leigh-Ann for their contributions to the company. He praised Anja for building a world-class team and low carbon business platform, implementing a strategic low carbon strategy for BP. He also commended Leigh-Ann for her leadership, commitment to building diverse teams, and forward-thinking approach to technology.
