Corio, a subsidiary of the Macquarie Group and a partner in the Outer Dowsing Offshore Wind project, along with TotalEnergies SE and Gulf Energy Developments, has submitted a Development Consent Order (DCO) for the 1.5-gigawatt (GW) wind farm to the Planning Inspectorate of England. The project is set to be constructed 33 miles (54 kilometers) off the coast of Lincolnshire.
The DCO application, submitted on March 14, is among the first to be filed for projects awarded leasing rights in The Crown Estate's Round 4 in January 2023. The application will undergo a 28-day review period by the Planning Inspectorate to determine if it will be accepted for examination. If accepted, a panel of independent inspectors will evaluate the application and make a recommendation to the Secretary of State regarding the project's advancement.
The application seeks approval for an offshore wind farm comprising up to 100 turbines, underground cables to transport power from the landfall point near Anderby Marsh, and a new onshore substation at Surfleet Marsh. The project represents a significant step forward in the UK's offshore wind sector and demonstrates the commitment of the Corio-led venture to advancing renewable energy initiatives.
