Danish renewable energy giant Orsted has named Rasmus Errboe as its new deputy chief executive and chief commercial officer, a move that comes on the heels of the company's updated business plan launch.
Errboe, currently serving as interim chief financial officer, will join Orsted's registered management in his new capacity. He previously held the position of chief executive of Region Europe at Orsted.
The decision to appoint Errboe reflects Orsted's efforts to streamline its executive management structure and bolster its focus on project execution, financial discipline, value creation, risk management, and operational excellence.
Orsted, with a Dkr270bn (€36bn) investment program, aims to more than double its installed renewable energy capacity to 35GW to 38GW by 2030.
Mads Nipper, Orsted's Group President and Chief Executive, expressed his satisfaction with Errboe's appointment, stating, “Rasmus has done a very good job as chief executive of Region Europe and more recently as interim chief financial officer, and this has equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of the business, making him a strong fit for this new role.”
Errboe, in accepting his new role, remarked, “I'm very pleased to take on the role as deputy chief executive and chief commercial officer at Orsted. I've been with Orsted for more than a decade, and I continue to be deeply motivated by and proud of being part of our journey.”
As part of the new management structure, Orsted will maintain its organizational set-up with three regions (Region Europe, Region Americas, and Region APAC). Reporting to the new commercial organization under Errboe will be the regional chief executives, the head of global stakeholder relations, and the head of strategy, portfolio, innovation & digital.
Errboe concluded, “The key focus for me and the team will be to continue to deliver on our updated business plan.”
The new Group Executive Team at Orsted, effective April 1, 2024, will comprise Group President and Chief Executive Mads Nipper, Deputy Chief Executive and Chief Commercial Officer Rasmus Errboe, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Trond Westlie, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Patrick Harnett, and Executive Vice President and Chief HR Officer Henriette Fenger Ellekrog.
