Powin LLC and Pulse Clean Energy Collaborate on Scottish Battery Energy Storage System

US-based energy storage provider LLC unveiled a strategic partnership today with London-headquartered Pulse Clean Energy to construct a 50-megawatt (MW) / 110-megawatt-hour (MWh) energy storage system (BESS) near , Scotland.

Under the terms of the agreement, Powin will supply its Stack750 system equipped with integrated StackOS software, while Pulse will assume responsibility for asset delivery and oversee operations throughout the project's lifecycle.

Dubbed Project Overhill, the initiative is slated to achieve full commercial operations by mid-2025, marking a significant step towards bolstering Scotland's energy and advancing its objectives.

Pulse, recognized as an investor, developer, and operator of flexibility and stability assets, has demonstrated a strong track record in the field. Within a span of less than two years, the company has successfully deployed 100 MWh of battery energy storage systems into operation and has initiated groundwork on an additional 500 MWh.

In a strategic move last September, Pulse expanded its portfolio by acquiring a 99 MW / 198 MWh BESS development project in Hampshire from Harmony Energy Income Trust, further solidifying its commitment to advancing clean energy solutions in the UK market.

The collaboration between Powin LLC and Pulse Clean Energy underscores the growing momentum towards battery energy storage deployment as a critical component of the global transition towards sustainable energy systems.
