Capital Energy Taps GES for Wind Farm Construction in Aragon Region

Spanish developer Capital Energy has inked a pivotal agreement, assigning the construction contract for two 50-megawatt wind farm projects in 's Aragon region to domestic firm GES – Global Energy Services.

According to Capital Energy, GES will undertake a comprehensive scope of responsibilities encompassing engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and site restoration for the Las Mareas I and Las Mareas II wind projects.

The contractual tenure for GES spans from the first quarter of 2024 through the third quarter of 2025, underscoring a significant commitment to expedite the completion timeline.

Capital Energy has earmarked approximately EUR 90 million (USD 97.3m) for the development of these twin wind farms, strategically located in the Zaragoza town of Mequinenza. The company anticipates that the Las Mareas projects will have the capacity to generate an estimated 300 gigawatt-hours of annually, bolstering Spain's renewable energy output.

In a collaborative effort, Germany's has been enlisted to supply 18 units of its cutting-edge N163/5.X wind turbines for deployment across these ventures. Additionally, Spanish firm Faramax has secured the contract to provide essential transformers vital for the integration of renewable energy into the grid.

The partnership between Capital Energy and GES signifies a concerted push towards advancing sustainable energy , aligning with broader objectives aimed at enhancing Spain's renewable energy capacity.
